PART-TIME CONTRACT OR CASUAL QURAN TEACHER’S JOB DESCRIPTION

 

ABOUT AL-FURQAN SCHOOL       

Al-Furqan School has a dedicated team of teachers who are committed to providing the best possible education for the students. At Alfurqan, it is our mission to teach young children Qur’an memorization, to preserve our Holy Book, and give each student a solid foundation in the rules of recitation. We aim to provide this teaching in a professional, nurturing, caring school environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF QURAN TEACHER

1.        Be punctual. Be conscious of Allah.Take care of yourself in all areas, physical, mental, and spiritual.

2.        Role model in speech, behaviour, and dress. Promote Islam as a way of life.

3.        Prepare daily lesson plans that are meaningful to long term planning.

4.        Maintain Islamic atmosphere in the classroom.

5.        Respect the students in your care.

6.        Carry out any duty assigned to you by the Principal.

7.        Be patient and calm when dealing with students and parents.

8.        Evaluate your students on a regular basis.

9.        Keep records of student progress.

10. Co-operate and collaborate with other colleagues.  Be a team player.

11. Prepare report cards on each student.

12. Call parent-teacher conferences when necessary.

13. Be creative in the approach/methodology that you use.

14. Encourage students to develop their full potential.

15. Work together as a team with the other staff members in a good atmosphere.

16. Make yourself aware of the students’ background and other relevant information. Islam pervades all aspects of the curriculum

17. SCHOOL ROUTINES: Each teacher is to have rules of conduct for his/her classroom.  Go over them regularly.

18. THERE MAY BE OTHER RESPONSIBILIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE PRINCIPAL

 

QURAN TEACHER REQUIREMENTS:

·         Certification or Diploma in Quranic Sciences, Tajweed, Al Noorania, or Ijaza

·         At least three years teaching experience with children in the ages of 4-16 years

·         Understanding the culture of Al-Furqan School – educating students to the best of our abilities to excel in Quran reading, reciting, memorization and understanding

·         Valid Police Check and References

·         Must be fluent in English. French and Arabic asset qualifications.

·         Residing in Ottawa and legally able to work in Canada

·         Available to work on a part-time and flexible basis.
